People knew well over 100 years ago that smoking was not good for you. As time went on, it became clear that smoking was bad for you but how bad was still a mystery. Now we ALL know smoking is horrible for every aspect of your health and
is a major factor in the leading causes of death
in the world today. (Heart disease, Cancer, Diabetes and other preventable diseases)
Most who smoke don’t believe anything will happen to them. Once the body's breakdown from smoking is to the point where symptoms show up, it is too late to undo the ill effects of smoking in many cases. …so starts the downward health spiral.
People choose to smoke or not. Those who choose to smoke will have an exponentially higher probability of getting Heart disease, Cancer or other life threatening conditions over those who choose not to smoke.
According to the American Cancer Society, JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), AMA and many others, PROLONGED SITTING IS KNOWN TO BE AS BAD FOR YOU AS SMOKING AND IS A CAUSAL FACTOR IN DISEASE.
Forget back pain or cricks! Sitting and texting cause organ and system disease along with nerve dysfunction and degeneration.
Consistent, periodic chiropractic care is the quickest, most effective way to undo the ill effects of daily and weekly sitting. Let us put together an effective adjusting plan for you incorporating exercises and stretches to keep you from developing many problems known to be caused from sitting.
We all know that sitting too much is bad and most of us intuitively feel a little guilty after a long TV binge. But what exactly goes wrong in our bodies when we park ourselves for nearly 8 hours per day – the average for an American Adult ?!? There is a chain of problems from head to toe. We will be addressing each of these very important issues.
LET'S BEGIN WITH ORGAN DAMAGE
Muscles burn less fat and blood flows more sluggishly during a long sit, allowing fatty acids to more easily clog the heart. Prolonged sitting has been linked to high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol, and people with the most sedentary time are most than twice as likely to have cardiovascular disease than those with the least.
Studies have linked sitting to a greater risk for colon, breast, and endometrial cancers. The reason is unclear, but one theory is that excess insulin encourages cell growth. Another is that regular movement boosts natural antioxidants that kill cell-damaging – and potentially cancer-causing – free radicals.
The pancreas produces insulin, a hormone that carries glucose to cells for energy. However, cells in idle muscles don’t respond as readily to insulin, so the pancreas produces more and more. This can lead to diabetes and other diseases. A 2001 study found a decline in insulin response after just one day of prolonged sitting.
Sitting Is The New Smoking
From the driver's seat, to the office chair, and to the couch at home, Americans are now spending more time than ever in a seated position. Sitting has been labeled as being even more dangerous than smoking, killing more people than HIV and is more dangerous than parachuting. We are truly sitting ourselves to death.
